Specifically for the oil-patch, the Rocanda Land Tracker conversion software will allow you to convert any LSD location into a corresponding latitude/longitude coordinate which you can then input into any mapping program. The program also converts any BC NTS coordinate into a corresponding latitude/longitude. It also has reverse conversion ability for any LSD West of the first meridian so you can enter the latitude and longitude of your position and immediately find out which LSD you are on.

The software has the ability to directly export the LSD coordinate into Google Maps, Microsoft MapPoint and Ozi Explorer. Any other mapping program can be used with as simple cut/paste command. Therefore, if the application were to be used in a desktop application in conjunction with Google Maps, no other mapping software is required.

Furthermore, the software allows you to search for any drilling rig in Western Canada. You can search by: LSD or BC NTS coordinate, rig number, contractor. Or you can enter your current Latitude and Longitude and search for rigs within x km of your location.
