The
eMap Deluxe is a budget-priced, factory-packaged bundle that includes a PC Interface
Cable and an 8MB Data Card; larger data cards are optionally available. The eMap
receiver in the eMap Deluxe bundles is identical to the eMap GPS receiver which
may be purchased on its own.
The
eMap has been designed to be small enough to fit in pocket or purse, but the display
size has been maximized so you can get a clear picture of where you are and where
you're headed on the moving electronic map. The size of a small, flat calculator,
the eMap contains a 12 parallel channel GPS receiver, weighs a mere 150 grams
and operates for up to 14 hours on just two AA batteries.
The eMap features
an internal Americas
Highway basemap containing information on North and South America including
state and country boundaries, lakes, rivers, streams, airports, cities, towns,
coastlines, and US, state, and interstate highways. In addition, the eMap provides
exit information for the US interstate highway system. With the eMap, you will
know when you are near services such as food, lodging, and service stations.
The
eMap is compatible with GARMIN's complete line of downloadable
MapSource CDROMS and will store between 8 and 128 megabytes of
downloaded CD-ROM information at a time depending on the size
of the data card you use in the unit.
NOTE:
The eMap is a simple to use, low cost GPS receiver that is designed
to be an electronic map, a replacement for the paper maps usually
used for navigating while driving or walking. It is ideally suited
to this type of application but it is less appropriate for demanding
outdoor use than the more robust models in our Outdoor range. The
eMap is not waterproof. While the eMap has a more simplified
set of features than GPS receivers which have been designed specifically
for hiking, boating or flying, all the essential requirements for
hiking are present, but the unit must be adequately protected from
water.
