The Garmin GPSMAP 440 series Garmin plotters pack a lot of value into their space-saving formats. They feature ultra-bright 4" QVGA displays and come ready to launch right out of the box with built-in cartography, new worldwide satellite imagery and a new streamlined user interface. The GPSMAP 440 series is preloaded with highly-detailed BlueChart marine cartography of the coastal United States – including Alaska, Hawaii and the Bahamas. This data provides detailed coastlines, shaded depth contours, navaids, port plans, wrecks, restricted areas and tide and current information. The powerful built-in analog sounder found in the 440s and 440sx can scan as deep as 1500' (in dual frequency mode) and features UltraScroll for high-speed screen updates. The GPSMap 440s and 440sx also offer split-screen viewing of map and sounder data for easy, continuous reference.

The Garmin GPSMap 440x and 440sx come with the GXM 31 Smart Antenna. With a subscription to XM Satellite Weather, the 440x and 440sx can provide continuously-delivered weather on the unit's high-resolution sunlight-readable display. Vital weather data, such as NEXRAD radar, forecasts, and current conditions is graphically displayed directly on the chart.

XM Weather/ Traffic service is not currently available in Canada. However, XM Radio is available. With a subscription to XM Satellite Radio, users will receive 160 digital channels of commercial-free music including more than 30 channels of news, sports, talk and entertainment along with 20 dedicated channels of XM Instant Traffic & Weather. It also features the deepest playlist in the industry with access to over 2 million titles.
